ABOUT

Xia has been obsessed with all forms of art since early childhood, which lead her to study art and design in Finland, Spain and South Korea, where she got her first tattoo apprenticeship in 2015.

After tattooing in her hometown in Spain for a while, In 2016, she decides to leave everything behind and move to Australia to pursue a professional career in tattooing. Visiting Australia has always been a dream for Xia, but she wouldn’t know it will eventually become home.

After working in Darwin and Brisbane, in 2020 Xia finally decides to move to Melbourne where she feels she truly belongs, and starts tattooing full-time at Ravens Hollow. In May 2021 she moves to Capital Tattoo pursuing a more art-tattoo balanced career.

In 2022, Xia opens Xia Tattoo: a 1 on 1 eco-friendly private studio where clients can have the best tattoo experience. This space, is the result of years learning from different tattoo artists, based on the result of years of research; Xia Tattoo is a place where everyone can feel welcome, safe, and comfortable, while all the attention is focused on one client a day. The whole tattoo process is looked after and monitored from the moment of booking until the piece is fully healed.

While learning during her time in Darwin, Xia evolved from small watercolour pieces to large scale artwork full of darkness and high contrast, making long-lasting solid tattoos that flow with the body enhancing its shape.

Bats have inspired Xia as she is also a wildlife rescue volunteer and she had the opportunity to specialise in care for flying foxes, which deeply inspired her art theme, and it’s common to see hidden little bats (or not so hidden) in a lot of her artwork. Xia finds her influences from fashion, and her Galician-Spanish culture, using patterns and myths from her homeland.
